« Early on, Dominique Perrault gained fame for the international competition he won in 1989 –only thirty five at the time- for the Bibliothèque nationale de France, essential building in which the architect alredy posits the use of the void and silence as materials, and the very disappearance of the architectural object as design. But also whose very importance and the uproar of the controversy surrounding its design, now extinguished by its remarkable public success, too often conceal from the public eye the development of an exceptional career as a builder and the gradual accumulation of his work ».
